What korean food do you recommend for a trip to Korea? I think “rice cake” by far. There are many different kinds of rice cakes. Baekseolgi, Injeolmi, Rainbow rice cake, and so on. In Korea, rice cakes are put on the table on special days. For example, we buy rice cakes that our ancestors liked for a memorial service. Also, on Lunar New Year’s Day, all family members get together to cook rice cake soup. If you come to Seoul, I would like to recommend a delicious rice cake shop. It is a rice cake shop located in Apgujeong, Gangnam. I would like to recommend two places.
“Rice Cake” Gangnam Apgujeong Restaurant 01:
압구정공주떡(Apgujeong Princess Tteok)
What is this unusual visual food? It’s black sesame rice cake. It’s injeolmi rice cake with a very savory and delicious powder. It’s really delicious. It’s a taste that I’ll definitely think of later if I ever taste it. I also sometimes go buy it when I think about it.
It’s cut into easy-to-eat sizes like this. You can take a small portion and eat it.
The location is from Apgujeong Station Exit 4 and it’s a 3-5 minute walk away.
“Rice Cake” Gangnam Apgujeong Restaurant 02:
도수향(Dosu-hang)
It’s a little more expensive than Apgujeong Gongju Rice Cake. This restaurant also sells Injeolmi, and it’s North Korean style Injeolmi. It wasn’t savory and sweet to my taste. And the texture is chewy, so it’s delicious.
The location is two to three minutes away from Apgujeong Rodeo Station Exit 6.
